Peter Pan film and other Disney works[ edit ] Tinker Bell as depicted in Disney media has become one of the company’s most important icons. In Walt Disney ‘s film version of Peter Pan, the character was blonde, dressed entirely in green clothing, animated and had no dialogue. As in the original play, Peter verbally interprets her communications for the sake of the audience and bell noises are used when she makes gestures. Tinker Bell has become one of Disney’s most important branding icons for over half a century, and is generally known as “a symbol of ‘the magic of Disney"”. In the picture and the official Disney Character Archives, she is referred to as a pixie. There is a myth that the original animated version of Tinker Bell was modelled after Marilyn Monroe. She is clad in a short bright green dress with a rigid trim, and green slippers with white puffs. She is trailed by small amounts of pixie dust when she moves, and the dust can help humans fly if they think happy thoughts. Since , Tinker Bell has featured as a hostess for much of Disney’s live-action television programming and in every Disney film advertisements flying over Disneyland with her magic wand and her fairy dust, beginning with Disneyland which first introduced the theme park to the public while it was still under construction , to Walt Disney Presents , Walt Disney ‘s Wonderful World of Color , and The Wonderful World of Disney. Hook. Hook is a American fantasy adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg and written by James V. Hart and Malia Scotch Marmo. It stars Robin Williams as Peter Pan/Peter Banning, Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook, Julia Roberts as Tinker Bell, Bob Hoskins as Smee, Maggie Smith as Granny Wendy, Caroline Goodall as Moira Banning, and Charlie Korsmo as Jack Banning.
Isaacs wears the hook on his right hand, supported by a shoulder harness. Hook is feared and ruthless, but also gentlemanly. In the climactic duel, Hook learns to fly, thus almost defeating Peter; the Lost Boys’ taunts weaken the enthusiasm Hook needs to fly, and he falls into the crocodile’s mouth. Peter Pan in Scarlet [ edit ] Geraldine McCaughrean ‘s authorized sequel to Peter Pan gives Peter a new nemesis, while bringing back the old favourite.
Ravello, a circus man in a constantly ragged woollen coat , offers Peter a servant and to ensure his well being in the search for the treasure. Ravello provides — through a red coat and a bad influence — that Peter Pan is increasingly in the direction of Captain Hook turns. He sees himself not as a living person, because he only eats eggs and no longer sleeps there.
He is revealed in the middle of the book to be the old James Hook, who escaped the crocodile , when the muscle contractions of the stomach meant to crush and digest Hook, which broke the vial of poison Hook kept with him at all times. The poison killed the crocodile, and Hook used his hook to claw out, but he was mutated by the stomach acid , changed Hook to an uglier man. The scarred visage that emerged from the crocodile’s stomach was not the noble pirate who went forthwith from the deck of the Jolly Roger, but Ravello, the travelling man.
Ravello has many animals in front lions , bears , and tigers.

She is inspired by the legendary Hua Mulan from the Chinese poem The Ballad of Hua Mulan Mulan is the eighth official Disney Princess and the one of few in the line-up who is not actually royalty through either birth or marriage. The original poem was originally a short fable, designed to show gender equality, but in the following centuries, it was developed until Hua Mulan became a legendary figure. As little contemporary evidence exists other than the poem, it is unknown whether she was a real or fictional figure.
Personality At the start of the film, Mulan is introduced as a free-spirited outcast, clumsy, and unable to follow rules, regulations, or traditions. Nevertheless, she has a warm heart and wants nothing more than to uphold her family honor, while keeping true to herself. Because of society, however, this is difficult to accomplish, often bringing chaos and embarrassment into her life. The driving force of Mulan’s journey is the love she has for her father, whom she joins the army in order to protect, as well as her desire to prove her own self-worth.
She was seen having difficulties with self-confidence, due to society’s mistreatment towards her, as well as the pressures of the society she was born into—particularly in the lives of women. Early in the film, whenever she went against sexism and injustice, or simply handled a situation in her own, unique way such as shouting “Present! During her time in camp, Mulan’s personality takes a shift. She proves to be fierce, physically, and mentally, as well as self-reliant, impressionable, and persistent.
As she learns the ways of strength and agility, she becomes the top of her class, setting an example for the men surrounding her, eventually earning their respect and friendship.
Hart and Malia Scotch Marmo. The film acts as a sequel to J. Barrie’s novel Peter and Wendy, focusing on a grown-up Peter Pan who has forgotten his childhood. Now known as “Peter Banning”, he is a successful corporate lawyer with a wife and two children. Hook kidnaps his children, and Peter must return to Neverland and reclaim his youthful spirit in order to challenge his old enemy. Spielberg began developing the film in the early s with Walt Disney Productions and Paramount Pictures, which would have followed the storyline seen in the silent film and animated film.

Hook invariably ends up fleeing for his life from the Crocodile, of whom he is understandably terrified. Hook’s frustrations are understandable; he lost a hand to his opponent, is constantly pursued by the Crocodile, and cannot fly. These factors arguably make him one of the more sympathetic Disney villains, and one of the most popular. His antics with the Crocodile are considered by many to be the funniest animated scenes ever created by Disney, according to Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston in the book The Disney Villain.

Plot[ edit ] Several years after the events of the first film, Wendy is now grown up and married to a man named Edward and has two children, Jane and Daniel “Danny”. Four years later, Jane refuses to believe in stories about Peter Pan and refers to them as “childish nonsense”, which leads to an argument with her mother and brother one night after Wendy is informed and tells Jane that she and Danny, along with the other children in London , are being evacuated to the countryside for safekeeping due to the German soldiers invading the city.
Later while sleeping, she is mistakenly abducted by Captain Hook and his crew, who sail through the sky on their pixie-dust enchanted ship, evade an air raid alert and escape back to Neverland. There, Hook plans to feed Jane to the octopus who replaced Tick-Tock the Crocodile in order to lure Peter into a trap. However, Peter rescues Jane and Hook escapes from the octopus, returning to the ship. After recognizing and asking Jane to follow Wendy’s footstep, Peter takes her to his hideout to be the mother of the Lost Boys, but Jane refuses and gets stranded.
The next day as the boys fail to teach Jane about flying, she upsets them and does not believe in fairies, making Tinker Bell sick. That night, Hook tricks Jane by lying that he will not harm Peter and she agrees to help him find the treasure. Hook gives Jane a whistle to signal him when she finds it and leaves. Jane asks Peter and the boys to play a game of “treasure hunt”, and they wish Jane to believe in fairies and save Tinker Bell.
As Jane finds the treasure and changes her mind into discarding the whistle, the boys make her the “Lost Girl” before Tootles finds and inadvertently blows the whistle. As the pirates arrive to capture the boys, Hook reveals Jane was an accomplice. As Jane tries to tell Peter she never agreed to anything, Peter scolds her for her treachery and tells her that Tinker Bell was knocked out by Jane’s disbelief in fairies.
